The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks (CGPDTM) invites applications from eligible candidates for the contractual hiring of Research Associates and Young Professionals. The engagement is strictly on a contract basis, and selected candidates will be posted at Indian Intellectual Property (IP) Offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Nagpur, as per the requirement.
Key Highlights:
- Contract Period: Initially for one year, extendable based on quarterly performance evaluations for up to three years.
- Termination Clause: The contract can be terminated at any time without notice and does not confer any rights for regularization or continuation beyond the contract period.
1. Minimum Essential Qualification, Age Limit & Experience:
Research Associate (Mumbai)
- Number of Positions: 02
- Upper Age Limit: 45 years
- Essential Qualification: Master's degree in Science or BE/B. Tech or MBA from an Institute of National Importance or equivalent reputed Institution/University.
- Desirable Qualification: LLB/LLM, or Degree/Diploma in IPR (full-time, at least 1 year), PhD in Sciences or Law, Professional working knowledge of IPR management, or M.Tech, M.Sc with working knowledge in IPR & policy matters.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in handling IPR matters. Knowledge of MS Office, PowerPoint, data governance, and quality assessment software tools is preferred.
Young Professional (Law & IP)
- Number of Positions: 03
- Upper Age Limit: 32 years
- Essential Qualification: Graduation/Post-graduation in Law or MBA in International Business with domain knowledge in required areas from an Institute of National Importance or equivalent reputed Institution/University.
- Desirable Qualification: PhD in Law & IP field.
- Experience: At least 1 year of research experience in Law & IP field, preferably in IPR matters. The individual should have knowledge of handling legal work/drafting of rules/regulations.

3. Selection Process:
Research Associate and Young Professionals:
- Selection Method: The selection will be based on an interview. Applications will be scrutinized, and eligible candidates will be called for an interview.
- Shortlisting Criteria: In case of a large number of applications, candidates may be shortlisted in a 5:1 ratio based on:
- Higher educational qualifications than the minimum prescribed.
- Higher experience in the relevant field than the minimum prescribed.
- Possession of the Desirable Qualifications (DQ).
- Merit List: A merit list will be prepared based on the interview marks. The final merit list will be valid for one year, and candidates will be selected based on their position in the list.
4. Interview Details:
- Venue: The interview will be conducted at the Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs, Trademarks, and Geographical Indications, Boudhik Sampada Bhavan, S. M. Road, Antop Hill, Mumbai – 400037, Maharashtra.
- No TA/DA: No travel or daily allowance will be provided for attending the interview.
- Document Verification: Verification of qualifications and experience certificates will be carried out before the interview.
